Anerada Inn is a pastel-coloured little house that sits at the entrance of Megalo Horio, a peaceful mountain village in Evritania. There is a local fable about old men sitting in the shade of chestnut trees who were seduced by aneradas, the little fairies who live under the trees. The name Anerada Inn could not have been better chosen for this tiny guesthouse hidden under the leaves of an old chestnut tree. Especially at night, when little lights twinkle in the trees and candles show the way to the entrance, it really seems to come straight out of a fairy tale.
The owner of the Anerada Inn, Maria Giannakou, loves designing interiors and she uses her guesthouse as her playing field. The five bedrooms are feminine and romantic, with country-style beds overlaid with light feather duvets, loosely draped canopies and cinched curtains. Each has its own soft colour scheme that is carried through to the tiniest detail, even in the bathrooms. The refined country-style décor is also evident in the intimate sitting room, where with almost every change of season Maria redecorates, refurbishes and changes little details.
During the winter months, the Anerada Inn is popular among weekend skiers. But it is perfectly suited to romantic mountain escapes all year round. A winter evening spent by the fire or a late night on the terrace in the summer; a perfect night's sleep followed by a carefully prepared breakfast of scrambled eggs, crepes, home-baked bread, croissants and cakes; there is no doubt that you will be seduced, if not by fairies, then by the huge charm of this tiny place.
