Online Booking for hotel: Anthippi
When Anthippi Kyriazanou, a young Athens-based architect, inherited the 150-year-old stone farmhouse where her family had lived for several generations, she decided to renovate it and turn it into a little guesthouse. After she finished the farm’s conversion into four adorable cottage-studios, she built a second cottage next to it with another four studios. Despite their difference in age, the two buildings, with their cream coloured, thick stone walls and small windows, go well together. Terraces with stone and marble tables set in the shadow of wooden pergolas; an old bread oven; a big round table made from an old millstone; greenery and flowers; and last but not least, an attractive swimming pool, all create an idyllic setting.
While inside the cottages are comparable in style (they have been decorated with extraordinary attention to detail, mixing romantic, arty and traditional elements), each studio is different. Some are on the small side, but their lack of space is made up for by the intimate atmosphere created by wood-beamed ceilings, old wood furniture (in some studios antique wooden refrigerators are used as closets), and walls painted in soft colours (with matching bed linen). The cosiness is further enhanced by snug built-in beds, vases with dried flowers, old shutters turned into mirrors, artwork made from shells, starfish, driftwood, and paintings, everthing made by Anthippi. But you will live outdoors. Plunge in the pool, prepare a Greek salad and an omelette in your outdoor kitchenette, have lunch on your terrace and a siesta in the shadow of a banana tree - isn't that what holidays are all about?
