When you pass through the narrow entrance gate to enter the Kastro of Monemvasia, you cannot escape the sensation that you are travelling back in time to a world of medieval castles, valiant knights and moonlit alleys full of mystery. Guesthouse Ardamis fits the bill perfectly. The stone house is estimated to be at least 800 years old. Little is known about its history, except that under Venetian rule and during the Turkish occupation it was used as a governor’s office.
The house has been meticulously restored. Rusty-coloured marble combined with exposed stone walls, vaulted and wood-beamed ceilings, stone arches, and simple rustic furniture give each room a distinctive look. Some of the historical elements of the building have been put to use playfully. One room features an ancient marble well, which, covered by a glass plate and lit from inside, now serves as a coffee table. In the same room, the large, all-marble bathroom opens onto a small terrace so you can have a drink outside while the bathtub fills up.
Guesthouse Ardamis sits close to the city wall, just above the sea, so it is easy to go for a little dip during the day. (Many people do so even during the winter.) Just a few steps from the house, there is the Ardamis Café, where you can go for breakfast and order drinks and snacks. The main street (a cobble-stoned path) of the Kastro, where you will find coffee bars, restaurants a few tiny shops, is only a couple of minutes’ walk away.
Your experiences
* ''Quiet and romantic''
The stay at the Hotel Ardamis in Monemvasia was perfect. The place is, as you know, quiet and romantic. Exactly what I had in mind and wanted. We had a wonderful time and I know that, one day we would be back there.
Thank you for your services, which I found to be professional ones.

Activities
You will enjoy wondering around in the Kastro and taking in the Medieval atmosphere. Do visit the ruined Byzantine castle on top of the rock. If you stay longer than a couple of nights, you can make excursions to the mountains, or day trips to Mystras and the island of Elafonisos, famous for its great sandy beaches.
Close to the sea in the Kastro of Monemvasia. Monemvasia is a medieval town built on a rock in the sea and connected to the mainland via a narrow causeway.
