In the centre of Crete, the largest island of Greece and the fifth largest of the Mediterranean just 5 km away from the Cretan Sea in the Province of Rethymno, you come across the Castle of Ageliana in the village of Ageliana. A Venetian building that has absorbed in the passing of centuries additions and modifications from the Turks and the Cretans. Traces of its stormy history are quite a few. The memories are settled. The respect, tradition and passion imposed in its five year restoration into a monument of life, ‘’ The Castle of Ageliana’’.

A building of 550 square metres which carries in its soul a history of centuries. However, it offers all the modern comforts. In the stone built yard, next to the wooden oven, the swimming pool offers the visitor the relaxation and balance that someone is looking for in his vacation. The interior decoration comprised of antiques creates a harmony with the traditional olive oil press mill with the celar of local Liatikou Cretan wine next to the French dining room from the past century. The living room with its impressive sharp tips, double arches, impressive sculptured fireplace that stands between the French pool table and the piano.

The fine lined stone stairs, after crossing the fountain and the stone well lead you to the four bedrooms that are named after local names of the region: Archondisa, Melisokeri, Myrte, Brisida. Finally, The Private Butler of the Castle is the man who will provide the healthy rich Cretan nutritional breakfast. The suggested excursions and guiding tours to the most attractive places of Crete and unnoticeably present in each of your expectations.

How to get there
By plane to Chania ( 70 km from Rethymno ) airport or Heraklion airport (80 km from Rethymno) and then you hire a taxi to Rethymno ( there is a taxi service outside the airport) or  you hire a car or you get to the Chania or Heraklion supraregional public bus station ( by taxi ) and use the regular bus service to Rethymno.
By boat to Chania or Heraklion port and then again you then you hire a taxi to Rethymno or  you hire a car or you get to the Chania ( Souda bus stop) or Heraklion supraregional public bus station by foot (150 m) and use the regular bus service to Rethymno.
