Koryschades is a small village that nestles on a forested slope of the mountains of Evritania. It is only five kilometres away from Karpenisi, a lively town which many Athenians use as their base when they go skiing in the nearby Velouhi ski centre. Koryschades has blissfully escaped the entire après-ski bustle and no matter what the season, it is always quiet and laid-back.

Several of the old houses in Koryschades have been converted into traditional guesthouses. One of them, the recently opened Korys House, stands out in terms of comfort and style. Its main appeal is probably the large, beautifully decorated sitting room. Furnished with marvellous country-style antiques and comfortable sofas, it is the kind of place that just makes you wish for bad weather so you have an excuse to spend your day sitting by the fireplace. There is also a pleasant dining room where breakfast is served. (During the day, guests can use the kitchen to prepare coffee or tea.) The bedrooms are no less alluring. They are far more elegant than your typical guesthouse bedroom and have sort of a ‘country club’ feel to them.

The Korys House is only a couple of minutes’ walk from the restaurant of the Koryschades Traditional Village Houses, which is open all day. Keep in mind also that guests staying at the Korys House, are welcome to use the indoor swimming pool of the nearby Anatoli Guesthouse.

Follow signs for Koryschades and Megalo Horio from the centre of Karpenisi. The reception is at the restaurant at the village square in Koryschades.
