If you would like to stay in the Old (Medieval) Town of Rhodes in a place offers the combination of a super friendly atmosphere and great luxury, the Nikos Takis Fashion Hotel might be just what you are looking for. The charming and superbly located (at a quiet, sunny spot around the corner of the Street of the Knights) turn-of-the-century townhouse used to be one of the boutiques of the famous Greek designer couple Nikos & Takis. A few years ago, Ilias (one of the label’s four designers) decided to convert it into a little dream hotel. His idea was to create a warm and homely environment and he opted for just seven rooms and suites and a sitting room. Using flamboyant colours and a multi-ethnic melange of furniture, objects and fabrics, he gave the interiors a strong oriental character with a dash of eccentricity.

The four designers now all regularly shuttle up and down between Athens and Rhodes, and although they do not run the hotel on a day-to-day basis, they are all closely involved and keen on making those who stay feel happy. Guests are not only treated to a wonderful environment, but they are also spoiled with all sorts of attentive gestures. Breakfast, for instance, is served any time you want it, and the menu changes on a daily basis. Also, when you come back from the beach you’ll be offered some ice-cream and fruits; later in the day some ouzo and mezedes, and in the evening, homemade liquor.

* ''Unforgettable''
We spent a wonderful weekend, one of these unforgettable ones where everything just goes so perfectly well: the sun was shining, the sea was still warm (end November!), Rodos was beautiful and we felt like princes in Nikos and Takis' Hotel.
The room was very romantic, angels smiling from the ceiling, the bed like in a fairytale, the bathroom so comfortable, the view on the Mosque and the old town, etc. Breakfast was served by a very nice Russian lady who had prepared eggs and bacon, pancakes, croissants, a fantastic carrot cake, fruit juice and one of the best "riz au lait" I ever had. We left the hotel with nostalgia and... some more kilos!

How to get there
Enter through the city walls via one of the gates on the north side of Old Town, and walk along the Street of the Knights. Panetiou is a side street of it, at the height of the Great Magistrate’s Palace.

Activities
There are enough sights in the Old Town to keep you busy for several days, and of course you can also use the hotel as a base for exploring the island (and its great beaches). Organised activities include scuba diving (the school is walking distance from the mansion), and golf at the Afandou Golf Course, which is situated at only about 15 km.
