Pavezzo Country Retreat
Just perfect : The unequalled combination of quiet, charm, tradition, style, comfort and originality.
Less so : Perhaps the lack of a sea-view, though the views over the green hills aren*t all that bad!

Every Greek island has its ‘secrets’: a little beach no one knows about, a valley full of flowers and herbs or a tiny taverna serving the most amazing food. One of Lefkada’s secrets is Katouna, a small and charming village up in the hills, just a few kilometres from the coast. It is the site of the Pavezzo Country Retreat, a group of seven adorable mid- and late-19th century restored stone cottages.
Each cottage has a character of its own: some of them have the look of a traditional farmhouse, with bare stone walls and dark wood beamed ceilings, while others, with white washed walls and pale wood floors and beams, have a more contemporary country style. During the restoration, the owners preserved as many as the original features as possible – some of the original fireplaces are particularly impressive – and while in terms of service and comfort the place definitely feels luxurious, the cottages have a truly authentic feel about them. Especially inside, the attention to detail is remarkable, as is the elegant way traditional pieces and decorative items are combined.
The setting of the houses is equally appealing. Located at the edge of the village, they nestle among greenery in a haven of absolute tranquillity. Every cottage has its own terraces from where you get sweeping views over the mountains. A small swimming pool completes the picture of bliss. In the old local dialect, pavezzo means shelter, or safe haven. The choice of the name could not have been more appropriate for this exceptional retreat.
Your experiences
* "A perfect getaway from it all"
Thank you for having a wonderful business and for finding all these lovely small Greek hotels (we looked over your book which was in the dining room). Myself and Lionel had a wonderful holiday at the Pavezzo retreat, it was a beautiful place and our house was amazing, we moved from Avra on the first day as it was too small and upgraded to Aknocula (I can't spell it but it means vine flower) it was the new house just built with an amazing Jacuzzi/ pool with fibre optic lights.
The staff were very helpful (especially Apostolos) and were lovely people. We have already thoroughly recommended the retreat to friends being a perfect getaway from it all holiday in beautiful surroundings. My only suggestion would be to have beauty treatments available at the spa, the only treatment available was a massage (which was lovely) but had there been other treatments (facials, pedicures, etc.) I would have certainly indulged.

Lefkada is an island you can drive to. The drive from Athens takes about 4 to 5 hours. You can also fly to the nearby airport of Preveza. After you cross to the island, you should follow signs for Nidri from the town of Lefkada. After about 5 km you take a right for Katouna (it is at 3 km from the coast). Once you arrive in the village, you will see a small sign for the Pavezzo Country Retreat.
Activities
Lefkada is great for beach bums, water sport enthusiasts and nature lovers alike, and the Pavezzo Country Retreat is perfect for those who are looking above all for quiet.
