The Pelecas Country Club is a magnificent 200-year-old estate. It has always belonged to the same family who used it for olive and wine production. When Nikos Velianitis inherited it from his grandfather, he turned a page in the family history and converted the estate into an exclusive hotel.
Nikos wants his guests to experience a country lifestyle of times past while at the same time enjoying contemporary luxury and comfort. You could be perfectly happy here enjoying the peace and spending lazy afternoons in a shadowy corner with a good book, but you can also opt for a bit more glam and tan on one of the teak sun-beds next to the pool, play a game of tennis, and go for some horseback riding. If you don't want your arrival to go unnoticed, keep in mind there is a helicopter pad!
Guests stay in the buildings where the olive press and stables used to be. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. They are furnished with fabulous family heirloom pieces and further adorned with lots of big candles, dried flowers and baskets with books and magazines. There is also a Presidential Suite with three bedrooms, a sitting/dining room and an office, occupying the first floor of the main mansion.
On the ground floor of the mansion you’ll find a sitting room and an impressive dining room, where you can enjoy an amazing brunch (eggs and sausages, a choice of savoury pies and crepes, salads, yoghurt, fresh fruits, cakes and deserts). When, however, the Presidential Suite is occupied, brunch is served in a garden house. There, you can also order drinks which, incidentally, you won’t find on the bill. Nikos treats his guests like friends, and he doesn’t believe in charging friends for drinks.

* "A place to stay for special occasions"
Our wedding co-ordinator actually went the day before and found the hotel for us, without her detailed directions it would have taken us much longer to find the place. However the lack of a sign on the gates is by design - as the bar man/ receptionist told us that this kept out unwanted visitors. The apartment was excellent and adorned with antiques and books about corfu architecture. Because it was our wedding night there was a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and rose petals on the bed - a nice touch. The facilities were as expected - satellite tv and phone, separate toilet and shower. The toiletries were excellent. The brunch in the main dining room (excellent surroundings) was good. Definitely a place to stay for special occasions.
