Greece has a wine tradition that is thousands of years old. While Greek wines may not share the fame of its French and Italian counterparts, you can find excellent (and very reasonably priced) wines in Greece. During the past two decades Greek wine producers have been promoting wines of Appellation d'Origine Controlée quality, that are really worth a try. But when you travel through Greece, don’t always ask for the wine list when you go for dinner – you should also try locally produced wines served in simple carafes in most traditional tavernas.
