Day 1: Drive (2 hours) from Athens to Amfiklea or Arahova for a 2 night stay.

Day 4 and 5 : Traverse the Lousios gorge, day trip to ancient Olympia

* Tour of the lakes in northern Greece.

Whilst Greece is mostly known for its wonderful seaside it also has remarkable places near lakes. This tour will allow you to discover another unknown beautiful Greece, whether you are attracted by outdoor activities or by more relaxing activities. Start off in one of the most beautiful wetland areas in Europe: Prespes. Two lakes covering thousands of hectares and situated high up at an altitude of over 800 meters are a paradise for bird-watchers and for anybody who loves lakes and nature. Next stop Kastoria: a historic town, a peninsula with forests and a monastery, mountains all around, a different experience altogether!

 We travel further east, with a stop in Edessa, to see the amazing waterfall park in the middle of town.

Final destination: the amazing Lake Kerkini, one of the few examples of a man-made intervention that has become a great ecological success. Dams built in the 1930s and in later years have broadened this lake and it now serves as a safe haven for 227 species of birds. In places the lake is covered with water-lilies while amongst the forests along the riverside a wild herd of buffalo roams.
